Judging by the poll on this BLOG, I concluded LLNL, LANL, Sandia employees who visit this BLOG are just complainers. That is ok if you enjoy complaining.
It is considered insanity to expect anything to change, if we don't speak out. A simple cut and paste and a few clicks!
Helpful hint: let your group or division know about the BLOG!

So what would you have blog readers do? Strike? The whole lab is little more than a "work slowdown" theme park as it is.
And (I know you aren't supposed to start a sentence with "and" so shut up) please tell me you don't really believe that lab management cares about any complaints raised here.
As long as the budgets are reasonable and there's no bad press everything is splendid.
The obvious action is: write your reps. We are not talking about strikes here. Cool off bud; none here is watching your grammar or semantics or syntax!
Scoob...I am cool....(the "shut up was meant for the person watching me over my shoulder as I typed the first comment not you) as cool as the other side of the pillow if I may be permitted to steal a bad line from someone else. The question remains though....what to do? You can write to your representative.....other than the local reps they won't care at all. McNerney might but as he's in the minority party again whats he going to do. The repubs were the ones who foisted LLNS on LLNL in the first place. I'm not holding my breath for any changes
Hey Scoob...you're right...it's just you and me!
The lemmings and trolls at LANL are Happy Campers just to have a job. Scared to say anything. The rest of the workforce (30%) have succumbed to apathy.
The LANL workforce has always been trapped by having moved to the deadly boredom of Northern New Mexico. It is not like the Bay Area. If you like the "San Francisco of the Southwest", i.e, Santa Fe, you can take the 45 minute drive to get there, or the 1.5 hour+ round trip to commute to LANL from there. Or, you can enjoy the relatively crime-free environment and the (so far) great schools in Los Alamos, and tolerate the fact that they roll up the sidewalks at 6:00 pm every night. And that the local restaurants' idea of gourmet food is broccoli with cheese sauce. And that there is only one grocery store, that has gone from Safeway to Furr's to Smiths and has all the same uneducated lazy Hispanic employees it had 20+ years ago. And that the County Council has just given a bonus to Kroger (the parent of Smiths) for a new "super" store. No way to buy an appliance, a car, decent clothing, a TV, a book from a decent selection, or chicken that has not been pre-frozen and once thawed is green. Veal? Dream on. Specialty foods? Drive 40 miles to Whole Foods. This for a town that has the highest percentage of Ph.D.'s in the country, and one of the highest income levels.
All this is underlined by the fact that if your career is not marketable nationwide, and you have gotten used to the relatively (for Northern New Mexico) high wages, you are securely trapped. Plus, if you are Hispanic (most of the "trapped") your family will disown you if you seek success elsewhere. So sad.
Let's take a good look at the San Francisco Bay Area home of LLNL. Most of the LLNL workers cannot afford to live in same community (Livermore) they live in. The cost of living in the Bay area is one of the highest in the U.S. Many workers have to live in Modesto, Tracy, Stockton, or Merced. Both Merced and Stockton are in the top 10 foreclosure rates in the U.S. and are absolute dumps. All these communities are homes to major gangs with more than 20,000 members and growing. Many workers actually commute to and from Sacramento, a 70-mile (3-hour) commute each way. The air pollution in Livermore is poor and getting worse every year..... cough. For the Livermore Valley the air pollution potential is high especially for photochemical pollutants. Dependent upon the meteorology for that particular summer and or fall, the frequency of elevated ozone levels at the Livermore station can be significant, approaching, reaching or exceeding Santa Clara Valley levels. The Livermore Valley not only traps locally generated pollutants but can be the receptor of ozone and ozone precursors from San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa and Santa Clara counties. I can remember staying at the Hilton on 580/680 where auto traffic was backed-up at a standstill as far as the eye could see, easily extending 15-miles in each way at 4:00 a.m. While Livermore has some decent restaurants, I remember the locals would go to El Vaquero where the Mexican food was the absolute worst food I have had in my entire live. While the spring is decent in the Bay Area, the East Bay summer is dry, hot, and I can remember 125-degrees in the shade one summer in Livermore. If you can survive all this, you can't forget the constant threat of earthquakes.
Who likes veal anyway? How sad.
"...Let's take a good look at the Bay Area ... LLNL workers cannot afford to live in ..... The cost of living in the Bay area is one of the highest in the .... blah blah blah..."
You're damn right and keep it up!
California is a unlivable dump, and the Bay Area is the worst. Like Gaza with dumb people....
As a 6th generation native son of the Golden State overrun by unwelcome surly squatters: this is exactly the message we want to push. I you don't get shot, you'll die of aids;and our mother stabbers are worse than our father rapers.....
All you malcontents who fled West and illegals that skedaddled North and from Ireland cause your families couldn't stand you should now go home. That's Schwatenegger, Boxer, Pelosi, Jobs, Ellison, Brin, etc.and well as a million Marias, Juans and O'Flahertys.
Get the piss outta here. You spoilt the joint. Its broke; a crappy place with too many scary folks.
Catherine Zeta-Jones can stay a bit longer.
So what would you have blog readers do? Strike?
No, but a nice, lazy mid-morning constitutional honoring Senators Jordan, Scott and DeMint seems appropriate.
Yah. Where's Senator McCarthy when you need him?
