Discounted tuition to students from Mexico

Students from Mexico at NM university pay deeply discounted tuition, and then go to work for LANL.

Didn't see anywhere that stated that they go to work at LANL.

7:23 PM must not work at LANL, or he would know that the ranks are littered with NMSU grads. Not sure where else they can get work, since there is slim demand for students from bottom level schools.

Can one falsify their ethnicity to land a job or be promoted at LANL too?

Following the LANS' management executive flowchart, I'm obliged to say something about how we only hire the "best and brightest" at the National Labs. Feel better now?

Anonymous said...

Wow! A LANS flowchart would certainly address any concerns for hiring less than qualified employees. Not.

At least somebody is willing to work at the NNSA labs. Pretty soon, the labs will be happy they can get educated Mexicans quicky clearances to do the jobs Americans don't want to (e.g. LANL/LLNL/SNL nuke engineer in a dead end job).

California is even stupider. Its high school graduates need higher education and it has one of the best public University systems BUT non native leaders sell off 1/3 of its seats to non resident stidents to get even more money for salaries. THROWING 10,000 QUALIFIED CA RESIDENT CANDIDATES REJECTED FROM CAL,UCLA,DAVIS, UCSD and the other campuses UNDER THE BUS EACH YEAR while OPENLY MOCKING DEJECT PARENTS with cries of poverty.

A just end to Napolitano, Dynes and the other non native sophists that infect the Regents.

UC for residents FIRST.

CA demonstrates the waste and carelessness of mommy's large liberal government. Democrats can't do anything right. TRUPMF will fix what old bald Brownie cannot. Send Napolitano back to the kitchen where she can only hurt herself.

False, California cut funds to UC during the Wilson years which where never restored so there is no obligation on their part to put California students first. Same thing happened at Michigan and Virginia. UC now receives less than 10% of their funding from the state. There was talk about 10 years ago of making several of the campuses private since it would not make much of difference anyway.

Why? Anyone can and should apply, what has California really done for the UC-system, they no longer provide any financial support so UC owes California nothing at this point.

Why?

July 9, 2016 at 12:14 AM

The obvious reason: CA residents can't compete nationwide.

Or more to the point because we paid for it?

Non natives go home... Or to Texas ...or hell... but go. You are not welcome here. Too many. Too foolish. Too entitled. Too lazy. Too liberal. Toi angry.

Anonymous said...

Too liberal??!! CA would be less liberal if the non-natives left?? HaHaHaHaHa!!!

And, you didn't "pay for it." The tuition of out-of-state students paid for it.

Check your facts --- out of state tuition did NOT pay for the UC campuses. The taxpayers of the state of California did.

I am sorry, check your facts, the state of California no longer pays for anything in the UC systems and has not since 1990. UCB and UCLA are for all practical purposes private at this point so they can admit whoever they want. If you want to go to college than go to a cal state, oh I forgot they are not not even getting much money from the state of California any more, hell California does not even want to support the community college systems anymore.

Let me just fill you in on how California has worked since 1988, if you are very rich than you are good, you can pay to go to private school anywhere in the country so you can stay and go to a UC or go out east, if you are poor than you utterly screwed. Now you may say yes so what that is how it is in the real world, however in California there is no longer a middle class, there is only the very rich or the poor, hence the problem. To be fair this is not a left or right issue, California has somehow managed to combine the very worst aspects of the right and the left into one, an amazing feat really. You guys have had the worst of the worst, Pete Wilson, Gray Davis, Arnold (really you elected an actor!?), and now as completely insane as Arnold was you now have Jerry Brown back, how the hell did you pull that off? Thank God, that UC was good enough and considered valuable enough to the rest of the United States and the world that they see fit to fund it through federal grants, industry money, and send top students to go to it. When you vote someone like Wilson in, than do not complain when these schools will not give any preference to California residents. California turned its back on their Universities long ago so the Universities turned their backs on California.

UC is so messed up at this point that it can hardly run its own campuses, let alone consider competing to operate a national lab.

UCLA and Cal etc. are the property of the people of the state of California and will do what we direct, through our employees. The ownership wss, is and always will ours. Need a new employee? Nappy Janet or Dingbat Dynes, no problem, you are fired, In principle, that easy. The drooling carpetbagger and the propeller head are employees, not owners.

Poor ones at that.

10,000 qualified California high school graduates are denied admission to UC in available positions while those slots are sold to out of state high bidders. Thats about 3 kids per California high school per year. This is a foolish misuse of state resources by foolish trustees.

Fire the trustees, send the non residents home. Our kidd first. We psid for the resouces snd now a entitled foreigner pushes your kid aside snd takes his place.

Grabby foreigners go home. Entitled non residents go home. California is better off without you.

CALIFORNIA RESOURCES FOR CALIFORNIA NATIVES. OTHERS NOT WELCOME.

"This is a foolish misuse of state resources by foolish trustees."

What resources are used? Please provide some evidence that California actually provides any substantial resources to the UC systems.

"Fire the trustees, send the non residents home. Our kidd first. We psid for the resouces snd now a entitled foreigner pushes your kid aside snd takes his place."

No you did not pay for these resources, the UC systems gets less than 10% of funding from the state of California. If you did not pay for the resources you have no right to claim you should get any kind of special treatment.

"CALIFORNIA RESOURCES FOR CALIFORNIA NATIVES. OTHERS NOT WELCOME."

What resources are provided by California? You just come across like some nutcase with a weird agenda.

Hey you arrogant dumbass it is called the University of California, that means California pays for it, owns and runs it, just like the state of Pennsylvania runs and pays for the University of Pennsylvania. Similarly you have to a resident of southern California to go to USC which uses the resources of southern California. You scientists sure are dumb.

Very subtle. The "CALIFORNIA RESOURCES FOR CALIFORNIA NATIVES. OTHERS NOT WELCOME" guy will think he has a supporter.

"You scientists sure are dumb"

Yeah and you're the misunderstood genius that we've all been waiting for to come rescue us. I've met your species before, your not stupid but you're not smart enough to do science so you have a chip on your shoulder and lash out. Maybe you should get together with the angry CALIFORNIA NATIVES posting guy and go bowling, the Trump steaks are on the house.

A remedial course in recognition of irony and sarcasm is recommended.
