What to expect Thursday and Friday

It's going to get pretty nasty tomorrow. Employees will have one hour to pack their office. The escort is only to allow items like pictures and awards to be packed. EVERYTHING else will be reviewed by management and if it it determined to be yours, they will pack it and ship it to you.

As for your computer, you will be allowed to create a folder and copy your files to it. Management will review that file when they get around to it and make a CD and send it to you. You will not be allowed to say goodbuy to friends and coworkers - it's off to the exit center.

The lab will create an email bounce that will basically say the employee you contacted no longer works here. If this is lab business contact someone else. You may contact this employee at home@email.com. The 200 series with more than 10 years aren't much different.

I told you to pack early!

Management to determine what is yours. Lovely opportunity for theft....

I DID pack early, and am I ever glad I did! I packed last June and got out before the inevitable. I could see what was coming and as such, I was vehemently opposed to privatization, so I retired early. What I didn't foresee was just how fast and how thoroughly Congress, NNSA, LLNS, and the self-serving, traitorous ULM have destroyed the Lab. Now, even the C students that run DOE/NNSA wouldn't want to work there. I am sad for the employees and the Nation, but I am also embarrassed. Now, when anyone asks where I worked, I just say UC. It's just too painful to discuss LLNL anymore.

Yes....I packed in 2006! Got a 25% increase in salary, stock options,6% matching, etc. As I read this blog (because I still have frineds at the Lab and am just curious as to how this would play out), I wonder why anybody stays. I saw this coming. They, the Lab, lost 17 years of experience with me. I would've stayed if I thought it would be any different than it is now. Take care of yourselves!

I used to feel proud to work at LLNL. Now I feel ashamed.
