...I think NK would be doing the nation a favor
When I read apocalyptic language on the blog, I'm glad they have the Human Reliability Program for the Lab folks that actually get to handle the nasty stuff.

HRP is a joke. Try to detect a bipolar person who is off his/her meds and about to commit murder with a gun brought in through the unmanned security portals with only a badge swipe. Just like the recent mass murderers. Name one espionage case, or disclosure of classified information case that involved drugs. Wen Ho Lee? Jessica Quintana? The Rosenbergs? Fuchs? Greenglass? Gold? Nope, it is just an anti-drug jihad carried out by so-called security professionals who have no idea what else to do. Piss in the cup - or we'll take away your job. Due process be damned. Privacy be damned. What (documented, provable) problem is this solving? The cost to the taxpayer is enormous, and the fanaticism of the practitioners is downright scary. They should wear hoods and big silver crosses and chant a lot.

Well, after a few decades of hands-on experience with NE’s I can say I worried a lot less about espionage than some doped up buddy working beside me. IHE helped but it’s not a panacea.

Sound to me like he or she is like many real Americans. Sick of the socialist pigs that were voted in to office twice by “dopes on the dole” whose goal is to steal from the rich to give to the poor , quite anti-Americans to say the least. IHMO: One big meteor hit in the middle of that town world finally rid this national of the nincompoop’s who are running it and the blast will take out Odumbo’s socialist constituent’s since a whole bunch of these goons responsible for the nations situation live within a few hundred miles of this nations current epidemic . If the brown shits organization you site above intension is to see who likes Odumbo or the state of the nation and then lock them up because they dislike the bozo you’d be locking up 75% of all the people who had a brain, leaving the rest of the brain-dead zombies to carry on. What a world that would be. You must assimilate and become part of the Borg. NOT!

"Odumbo"?? Pot, meet kettle. Hard to follow such a poorly written rant - sort of dilutes your message, if you actually have one. - 3/10/2013 12:45 PM

You understood perfectly what I said and know who Odumbo is. Yes the BOY in the Whitehouse voted into office by the worst people our nation has to offered followed by dopes on the dole and socialist pigs who think the world owes them cause they's was soooo mistreated and those who actually work for a living should pay more taxes to see they get everything for nothing. yep, your type of people. - 3/10/2013 7:18 PM

I think this blog might have more participation if it were moderated. The rhetoric is turning people off.

Well, they have nuclear weapons, which several countries appear to think they "need." I think the current round of belligerence is just a sales pitch by NK - "See what countries with nuclear weapons can get away with?"

Glad to see Silicon Valley is culture and history and not commerce/technology. Nobody uses Google except for the Google museum, of course.

Not trying to shift the discussion... But has Sig Hecker made any news in light of the recent NK events and his experience in verifying NK nuclear capability firsthand?

To be honest.. The more ad hominem attacks on Obama from the Fox News zombies, the more support he will get from the mainstream. Add to that, you tea party zombies are wrecking the GOP.

Second thread today where you inserted this kind of off-the-wall comment of no relevance to the discussion. Having a bad day? - 3/13/2013 2:38 PM

Knowing Sig, and having talked to him about his NK experiences, I'd be very surprised if he chimed in now. He knows his "data" is now old and likely irrelevant, and he has no need to remind anyone of his historic accomplishments in this area. He is not a politician, nor a foreign policy expert, and he knows it. - 3/13/2013 7:21 PM

The end of LANL and LLNL? "After host Maria Bartiromo questioned whether the two plan to “close down entire agencies,” Ramaswamy said...
An unidentified spokesman for Pyongyang’s Foreign Ministry said the North will exercise its right for “a preemptive nuclear attack to destroy the strongholds of the aggressors” because Washington is pushing to start a nuclear war against the North.
At a mass rally in Pyongyang on Thursday, Army Gen. Kang Pyo Yong told the crowd that North Korea is ready to fire long-range nuclear-armed missiles at Washington.
“Intercontinental ballistic missiles and various other missiles, which have already set their striking targets, are now armed with lighter, smaller and diversified nuclear warheads and are placed on a standby status,” Kang said. “When we shell (the missiles), Washington, which is the stronghold of evils, …. will be engulfed in a sea of fire.”
Normally I would get all upset if someone were to threaten to blow up Washington, DC but having seen the results of voting in an anti-American socialist democratic regime not only once but twice that represents the worst this nation has to offer I think NK would be doing the nation a favor. It would not only take out the cartel members we have running this country but it also would take out 90% of the parasitic populace voters that live within a 100 mile radius of the blast. I would view this as a WIN-WIN situation. I'm looking at this as "Problem Resolved"
Washington DC would not be a target for anyone wanting to do the US real harm. Many more serious and devastating targets exist. Centers of capital (NYC, Chicago), commerce (NYC, Los Angeles), culture and history (Boston, Seattle, Atlanta, San Francisco). Whether you agree with those designations or not, the west coast cities have the most to fear, not from missiles, but from small, innocuous "fishing vessels" that carry a multi-kiloton, primitive warhead right into the middle of the harbor. With a little rudimentary radiation shielding, no one will ever suspect them.
