Is it possible that the Russians have been keeping on eye on what America has been doing to the national labs and seeing all the people fleeing the labs? What idea do think that might give them? Somehow utterly destroying the moral at the labs may not be seen as the best move.

Probably not as much of an eye as the US did when the Soviet Union collapsed, and former weapons lab scientists were driving taxis and prostituting their skills to the west. We threw money at them, but I don't see them throwing money here.

The US hasn't collapsed (yet). Besides, Russia does not need to worry that rogue states will hire US designers to build nuclear weapons. First, Russia has never feared rogue states; it simply subjugates them and points them towards the US. Second, there aren't any US designers that know how anymore.

Hands-on expertise and employee pride in work at the US weapon labs have largely been lost. There are some pockets of good scientific work left but it continues to shrink. It's been replaced by a cadre of overly bureaucratic and mediocre management types and workers afraid of losing their jobs and holding on to what's left.
No need for the Russians to fear much of anything. Lenin is quoted as once saying “the capitalists will someday sell us the rope with which we will hang them." Very prophetic. - 3/16/2014 10:14 PM

I've read the quote, but fail to see the applicability here. We've hung ourselves with our own rope. - 3/17/2014 8:11 AM

It is interesting that his topic was originally posted on the Ides of March at exactly 11:34am (which spells the word Hell on a digital clock)

It is interesting that the labs where sold to for money and greed.
Maybe capitalism does destroy itself in the end.
It is not being lost on other nations about how the US is now treating their very own scientists. - 3/17/2014 9:16 PM

Oh please. Can you be any more melodramatic? Do you have no sense of self-embarrassment? What a crock of whining victimhood. Grow a pair. - 3/17/2014 10:07 PM

Ignore the other troll that responded to you, he is just trying to waste your energy.
The biggest factor is not the US. The US is pouring money into the lab. The issue is the DOE and LLNL/LANL culture. There are many in the US civilian workforce that are treated well, work hard, and are loyal. The labs are the outliers on running a workforce effectively. - 3/17/2014 10:45 PM

And it's only going to get better as the US relinquishes the Internet to the UN OWO Cartel members. Go to https://www.facebook.com/icannorg and enjoy the tranquil speeches of happiness coming from our countries adversaries mouth. There are two youtube presentations produced by ICANN at this location. We're screwed.

So IP addresses and domain names will be doled out by someone else, in a manner still to be determined. What's the big deal? This move has been planned for many years. Now that it's happening, some people (who apparently just woke up) are in breathless horror about it. Get a grip.
