SNL got caught by IG

Ruh roh, looks like SNL got caught by IG

Our inspection substantiated the allegation. We found that SNL used Federal contract funds to engage in activities that were intended to influence the extension of Sandia Corporation's contract with the Department—a contract then valued at about $2.4 billion per year. In particular, SNL developed and executed a plan that involved meeting with and attempting to influence Federal and Congressional officials to provide assistance in obtaining a noncompetitive extension of its contract with the Department. We determined that these activities appeared to

have violated United States Code (U.S.C.) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) provisions prohibiting the use of Federal funds to influence members of Congress or Federal officials with regard to an extension of a contract. We also concluded that such activities were impermissible under a provision of the Sandia Corporation M&O contract, which prohibits the contractor from making interface with any Federal, state, municipal or local legislators, or legislative personnel for the purpose of obtaining or retaining business for Sandia Corporation.

And what will the penalties be? Give back that money and everything is settled? Clean slate and "we promise to never ever do this again"?

Three Vice Presidents of technical divisions at Sandia National Laboratories do not have a Ph.D.: Hruby, Walker, Vahle. To my knowledge, these are the first ever Vice Presidents without a Ph.D. in Science or Engineering to lead techical divisions at Sandia.

Adam Rowen (manager of the Materials Chemistry department) from Sandia National Laboratories does not have a Ph.D.

Can anyone provide any citations which extol the reason for a manager to have a PhD?

The last lab director of LLNL didn't have a PhD and did just fine.

Does anyone give a care about one lowly level-1 manager who doesn't have a PhD other than Nov 19, 2:24AM who must have been fired or not hired by this no name? There are countless managers at any of the labs without a PhD. When Adam makes it to the level of Lab Director, then maybe someone might care about this tired troll. If Adam used to date your mom, then you have enough problems without needing to cry about it here instead of at your therapist.

I've had both managers that Ph.D.s and ones that didn't. I'll have to disagree with the previous post since my experience is that Ph.D. managers were much better than the ones without Ph.Ds. The ones without Ph.Ds had serious problems obtaining funding from external agencies and had no credibility whatsoever in bringing in money even internally.

This is just one more chapter in the book. The original IG report suggests that criminal charges could result and that LANL was in it deeper than SNL. The story just gets worse and worse.

Oh wow - imagine a report "suggests" something bad might have happened! What a tragedy! We should hang everyone involved! Right now!

Ed Moses had a Ph.D.

Remember LIFE???

If you are going to keep up this "Ph.D." nonsense, at least get it right: Ed Moses does not "have" a PhD, he IS a PhD.

Ed Moses has degrees that are higher than some managers at Sandia
