Ash Carter is looking for the "coolness factor"

http://www.politico.com/story/2015/04/ash-carter-silicon-valley-appeal-117293.html

Wonder if these Silicon Valley engineers will enjoy their polygraphs and reporting all their foreign contacts. Should be easy to find companies with no foreign nationals and no connections with overseas investors or suppliers. Every Silicon Valley startup will want their own SCIF so they can get instructions from Washington. You go Ash!

Then there's the export control laws. The penalties for violation are hard-time felonies, unlike mishandling classified information. Thanks to Congressional action after Wen-Ho Lee, they reduced the felony crime to a misdemeanor to mishandle classified information.

I'm sure it wasn't to protect all the Congressional staffers who leak classified information for their bosses in order to manipulate Washington decision-making. Nooooo.

Yes the pentagon or DOE for that matter will have a hard time to attract people from Silicon Valley.
Just imagine, when they have to take ladder training, fill out time sheets, have to get four signatures to take their laptop home, need to get their supervisors signature to trade in the old company modem for a new one....
Yep, paradise is calling. Certainly a lot more attractive than sya work for Google, or any other tech companies, where they get treated as adults.

Good article that discusses what fools these "action intellectuals" such as Ash Carter are:

I cannot think of anything cooler than living in the middle of nowhere and being looked down upon by sleazy for-profit construction worker managers. These same mangers who do not give a dam, about innovation, national security, or coolness. They do care about getting easy money and somebody to blame when it all goes wrong. Monploy privatization, cannot get cooler than that.

"Monploy" ?? If you don't want to "live in the middle of nowhere", why do you? Your leg irons are too tight?

Nope. We got the government we voted for. No escaping our own culpability. Or stupidity.

We have more important things to talk about like Bruce Jenner.

... and Chaz Bono.

Look, the U.S. has gotten way off track led by an administration that goes for populist issues.
If people were to actually understand how the economy really works, then there would be a more conservative tilt to our domestic finances.
It's in the left's interest to have a large poor, uneducated voting block to which they can play hero Santa.
oh, and by the way... Riot Away in Baltimore.. or wherever!

The result of a city run by Democrats since 1967. Black mayor, city council 50% black, police force 50% black. But don't worry, Sharpton is going to explain to us how to fix it.

Nope, we got the government that big money paid for.

Yes, we elected someone, but who organizes the roster? Big money. The Republican field in particular is so far beyond ludicrous that we've lost credibility with the rest of the world.

So if everyone believed that, the democrats would win by a landslide in every election everywhere. Maybe your claim lacks some credibility with some people?

Ash Carter?

Wasn't he the guy with the young wife who was standing by creepy VP Joe Biden at Carter's swearing in ceremony in which Biden placed his arms all around her, basically feeling his wife up in front of the crowd?

Yeah, real cool Ash.

What was he supposed to do, punch out the VP on national tv, and with all the Secret Service guys standing there? Yeah, that would have been cool.
