We are all to blame!

Is there some point to this all? We are suppose to ensure the stockpile which was relevant in the 60s and 70s. The cold war is over and we are all about to "die" ok maybe not but be shut down by Covid19. Has everything we have done been for nothing? I can understand some boomers saying " I protected freedom" but can anyone from that past 25 years say that...I think not. Maybe our talents should have been used elsewhere where it could have made a difference. We spent all this money on bombs to kill an enemy that no longer existed now in the end when we could have used that money to fight viruses we wasted it. We are all to blame.

I spend my nights in the factory
Building bombs for the good of the nation
It's my job, can't you see?
Massive plutonium radiation
They're gonna rock and destroy
Made from the finest of alloys
They're gonna fly under the radar
Six feet over the russian horizon
Making the bombs!
Making the bombs!
Making the bombs!
Making the bombs!
I install electronic components
The little chips that know where home is
I'm getting a thrill going through my section
When I give them my final inspection
I like the kind that save the buildings
Why take it out on pillars of stone?
You gotta kill, you gotta maim
The real estate is not to blame
Making the bombs!
Making the bombs!
Making the bombs!
Making the bombs!
Making the world a nicer place
For us to be
Making the world a nicer place
For you and me
Making the bombs!
Making the bombs!
To keep a lid on the population
We'll drop bombs on selected nations
We've got a big one in current production
We'll teach those slime buckets about reproduction
Making the bombs!
Making the bombs!
Dropping the bombs!
Dropping the bombs!

The risks and the adversaries still exist. Russia, China, Pakistan, North Korea. Maybe even India. All nuclear. All (except maybe India) completely antithetical to the US. Deterrence is still necessary, but at a smaller scale. It just needs to be there, and needs to work.

That the Circle Jerks, I remember them from my Pasadena days back in 80s.

Good call 8:23 pm! I had no idea. The Circle Jerks also had a song in Repo Man.

A token Boomer here. The big bad world is still out there, I wish it were not the case but wishing will not make it so. The wolves are still eyeing the sheep and in that context we continue to need sheep dogs.

I viewed my employment at the lab in that context and I never regretted nor questioned my contribution to keeping the world a bit safer.

That there are so many live Boomers among us is largely due to the fact that we have been wielding a really big stick for the last 75 years (hint: nuclear weapons). And, without all those Boomers procreating like lab rats, there would not be so many of you snotty nosed X-Gens, and Millenials annoying those remaining from Greatest Generation, and the elderly Silent Ones. We are thinking of setting up a GoFundMe account to buy y'all a clue!

You don't need a GoFund Me account. Just sell your 6 bedroom house in Los Alamos to a family who actually needs it and move to the beach like your supposed to. Or at least get off the city council and let the next generation build their housing.

Yeah, way too many elderly landlords carrying 1950's quads and duplexes who need to sell and free up the land for real modern housing instead of Zia slums.

50% chance the first case at Sandia or Los Alamos will come next week. Too many people traveling. Also it is going to be fun at LANL this summer with 1200 students they expect . Also during group meetings the mangers are getting questions like "if my wife is sick I can still come in right?", some of the younger employees think this no big deal and it is "just the flu bro", so yes this is going hit pretty hard.

Nope! We built the bombs and built the town. We're stayin'. Y'all are SOL for a place to live up here.

You don't know much about Los Alamos. You meant two bedroom quads and duplexes worth $150k.

Los Alamos is filled thousands of multi-million houses, gates communities, gardens, guest houses, fancy cars. All this while living in the most poor state in the union. Just read about this by the Los Alamos study group. In fact many think that the poverty in New Mexico is due to the Los Alamos.

You think the Los Alamos Study Group is a reliable unbiased source of anything? Sorry, no. Greg Mello has hated Los Alamos and LANL for many decades.

ANother delusional soul. There are no gated communities or fancy cars-just your small to mid sized SUVS driving around. DOn't see very many Mercedes, Beemers or Porsche. NO multi-million homes. I see more wealth in Santa Fe but that's just me.
