Why do we have topics on a scrub lab like Sandia here? They aren't even a physics lab. If we include topics about Sandia, then does that mean we can also have topics about other loserville labs like Idaho National Lab and Ames Lab?

Arrogant and parochial much?

Seriously. Ames - they have two famous scientists there. The rest of them, including the director and management, are all loser and washouts.

Why are you bringing up Ames?? Some little sore spot there?

Anonymous said...

Yeah wtf. Atleast AMES has a high ratio of capable PhDs, unlike a certain unnamed engineering national laboratory based in albuquerque.

What a non-story. $2M taxes from a $2.7B annual budget? Their annual carryover of unspent money is MUCH larger than the increased taxes. Even if they did lay off people to cover the additional taxes, at the fully burdened rate it couldn't be more than a half dozen people or so. Complete hype by a news organization on a slow day, apparently. Or, maybe another "oh, poor me" by SNL.

Sandia is the only lab doing any real weapons work. Unless UGT moratorium is lifted, the physics labs are stuck with decades old designs, that just get shoe horned in LEPs. Sounds like some jealous folks on this board.

HaHaHaHaHaHaHa!!!

Just because the nut and bolt is attached to a weapon.... i suppose "technically" it's weapons work. But the same as said before. Sandia is a scrub lab. They are full of scrubs, doing scrub work. The other two physics labs are not at all jealous of doing any of that scrub work. Heck, what's even more fun, anything that is remotely interesting at Sandia gets stolen by LANL. I heard that LANL usurped a bit chunk of the GTS work, and Sandia was left standing there red faced and crying for mommy. WAAAA! WAAAA!

Adam Rowen (who does not have a Ph.D.) is no longer the manager of the materials chemistry department at Sandia.

No one "has" a Ph.D. Some people ARE Ph.D.'s.

What happened to this Rowan character? Did he get promoted?

You should hear some of the things that the current staff members have to say about Adam Rowen!
