End of Patriot Act: what does it mean?

So the patriot act is done. Does that mean that global security is done? There will be a number of people from the security "intelligence" and "big data" that might be out of a job soon. What does these mean for the NNSA labs?

I think you have NNSA confused with NSA.

It's amazing how many labbies nurse jealous hatred of the program that is NOT characterized by failed oversold laser experiments or weapons work without weapons material at the lab or much if any in the stockpile...

The end of the dream of Ash Carter and John Brennan to turn the US into a surveillance state.
The end of of the IC's dream of imposing their distorted reality on citizens liven in a open society.

In case you have not noticed we are at war. We cannot afford to have every whimsical comfort and tolerate anything and everything. In these times it is no longer just about "you" and what makes "you" happy. We all have to give up some freedoms in order to insure that we will have any freedom at all in the long run. Freedom is not a right and as we have seen in recent times it can be abused. Our enemies see what is becoming of us just how depraved and lazy we have become. We are so self-absorbed that we let slip a law that may very well have prevented many 9-11s. Why do you care about the patriot act? Do you have something to hide?

This is the classic response of dictatorial, totalitarian regimes. Why should any innocent citizen fear having his government know absolutely everything about his life? After all, we know that the government, and all its employees, are nothing but trustworthy, honest, and ethical.

Give up Freedom? WOW....How far we have fallen...

Way to keep the discussion civil. Why do liberals always resort to name-calling?

Everyone is "easy pickins" on an anonymous blog. To you, I guess there is no shot too cheap to take. So sorry for your disability.

Domestic surveillance and cyber security is the future of the military industrial complex. Lots of easy money to be made. You just have to hire programmers. Nothing complicated like stealth technology. Raytheon recently bought a cyber security firm for $2B.
