No Texas A&M involvement

Notable that there is zero Texas A&M involvement in the new organization leadership

Not surprising since TAM has no direct involvement in any DOE or NNSA site operations. It is telling that the ALD for Business Management and ALD for Facilities & Operations are from Battelle run national labs - ORNL and PNNL. Also striking is no ALDs with connections to LLNL or UC.

It will be interesting to see the composition of the Board of Governors/Directors for Triad - it there is one. I really hope that there isn't a BOG like clone. Looking at both ORNL and PNNL, it appears that Battelle does not use a "corporate" Board model for oversight of lab leadership and management. Considerable costs - money and time - will be saved by Lab staff not having to prepare watered down "everything is fine - we're doing great" powerpoint presentations for BOG meetings.

Battelle has a large ORNL footprint on the team, and added tread with INL, PNNL and NBACC staff that are also Battelle. Score one each for Flour and Huntington Ingalls, as well as one pick up from SNL. Then throw in a handful of UC lifers that are hold overs from LANS uppermost leadership for the last five years and one TBD and there you have it.

Still hard to determine what A&M has to do with Triad, other than pulling out the share of annual fee?

Curious how the proposal was RFP compliant with a TBA in the key personnel, since contracts were to be included in that. Anyone want to venture that something smells very bad here??

Fitch is ex-LLNL and now Battelle.

Looks like a solid leadership team for a science lab. I feel a 100x more comfortable with this team than I did the original LANS leadership team back in 2006 which had way too many from the industrial partners and production sites.

I’m surprised that our resident LANL hater has not quipped that A&M is missing from the LANL leadership roles because LANL already has enough cowboys already.

On a more serious note, the ALD for simulation and computation is still awaiting announcement.

No Texas a&m involvement, for now, is perfectly ressonable if dedisions are based on merit and guided by the "best athlete" for the position model that Thom Mason articulated to us.

That does seem way out of bounds from the RFP.

It is not the cowboys from Texas I am worried about, it is the UC cowboys who no doubt made sure to marginalize Texas AM, because they think they are the best and brightest.
