This only opens the door, you're number of 205 FTE's is extremely low,by Feb 2013 that number will be some what larger.

That's because with the new and improved lay off policy effective 1-1 2013 LLNS can let as many people go as they wish without reporting it. I only hope as these people are let go each one of them cpmes here and speaks their piece. I'm still banking on 800 to go between Jan and March of 2013 but who knows maybe they'll kick the can down the road and no one will be let go. We'll see .

Not sure why anyone thinks there is going to be a layoff, other than the known and publicized layoff of security guards given the completion. Yes, the policies have changed--but that seems more aimed at long-term EBAs.

So now that LLNS has the option of sending you home four hours a week’s W/O pay which is going to affect your take-home pay, TCP-2 contributions, in addition to your TCP-1’s 7% cut in pay already, affect your SS and in the end effect your retirement pay, what are you going to do. Just roll over and take it? This is going to affect every blue collar worker we have, but it won't be so and for the white collar workers since they can take a 20% cut in pay and not feel it, especially with so many dual incomes at LLNL. It's a no brainer and no skin off their nose. What a way to make sure LLNS comes out ahead and the workers lose again and again and again. This type of corporate BS is happening all over this nation and I’ll assure you it will not get better. I guess you all should start looking very heavy at how the Chinese treat their workers and set yourself up mentally for the same sort of treatment in the near future and surely in your working life. It used to be Yeesum boss, but now I wonder what the Yes Sir Masders slogan is going to be? Maybe yes maestro, right away maestro. Oh and don’t forget to bow and bring your rug to work with you each day so you can pray to mecca when the call for prayer sounds over the emergency announcement PA.

Oh and don’t forget to bow and bring your rug ...

You really should forget that one.

More benefit cuts, lower real wages, pensions in bigger danger, greater morale beating policies, increased job insecurity, much higher amounts of management bloat with bigger manager salaries (hidden from the staff, of course)....

It's not going to get any better. Leave or learn to live with it. The NNSA labs have long since left being world renown "science labs".

The Bechtel-ization process is almost complete.

The number listed at the EDD site is for unemployment claims filed by workers already laid off. It includes contract and LLNL employees. I was one of the contract employees laid off as of Nov 1. No notice. I was at work and called in given papers to sign and escorted out. I have worked in silicon valley for a long time so it wasn't shocking it was just that usually I am better at seeing it coming. Low man on date of hire list so adios.

Won't surprise me to see lots more go. Tension is high and morale is low.....never a good thing

For sometime now the Lab has created an artificial, upper management induced, work shortage. This work shortage will give Lab managment the justification for a layoff of FTE's they say are non-performers,regardless of seniority
