Perry's visits

Perry visited the DoE 'problem children' this week

Anyone get any good takeaways from the LANL or WIPP visits?

The narrative of LANL as a "problem child lab" has run its cycle and is forgotten. It is time for new myth to rise, perhaps CIA or NSA being the deep state bad players in DC, or TSA going native, NASA off it rockers or something like that. As for DOE labs I think ANL could be a good candidate for out of control lab in complete and utter crisis, it is near Chicago after all. Bring ANL down and there could be money for other things. What is done in ANL that could not be done in Texas?...the things that make you go hmmmm.

Perry was coached very well by Charlie. Perry praised Charlie to the point of saying how "great of a Director" Charlie is and placed is hands in prayer form in front of Charlie. Perry stated "humans affect the climate". Top priorities are 1. Cybersecurity and 2. Supercomputing. He said good things about nuclear energy and said if he can run the 12th largest economy in the world (Texas) he can run DOE. Perry was very relaxed, humble, and told several jokes. He's quite the "cut-up"! He said he didn't know if people recognized him for his Texas governor role or his appearance on Dancing with the Stars. If he goes to LLNL, let see if he says the same "canned" items and praises Goldstein!

Let's hope his performance as the DOE Secretary is better than his Dancing with the Stars performance. His dancing was pathetic!

Somebody really, REALLY needs to tell the new Secretary of Energy that "nuclear" is NOT pronounced "nuke-you-ler"!

That's Texas English. Get used to it if you didn't with GWB.

Oh, I remember listening to the "W" mispronounce "nuke-you-ler", very well. I thought it made HIM sound uneducated, too.

Stop hyperventilating. Pronunciation of English words varies significantly among the states in the US, and certainly among English-speaking countries outside the US. Jimmy Carter, a purported nuclear engineer, pronounced (or mispronounced) it the same way. Are you outraged because you think you "own" the word "nuclear"? Grow up.
