Disappointed

With a $17T deficit you should expect your budget to be cut drastically since it's the logical thing to do to any none mission critical project, NIF being the biggest of them all. The nation cannot afford toys for the boys anymore. With that said I'm very disappointed the Republicans allowed the debt ceiling to be raised for any reason. All this is doing is postponing the inevitable. I guess the socialist democratic party will go down in history for being the party of the people who caused the greatest depression this world has ever seen. The good news is, they SDP “socialist democratic party” will get what they deserve. Global recognition.

The Republican-controlled house voted for all the budget appropriations leading to the need to raise the debt ceiling the next increment. They didn't really care about the debt as a make-or-break issue, they were just seeking political leverage. No issue with them seeking that, nor getting their asses handed to them. Senator Cruz got a lot of publicity, but it was a dead end.

"The Republican-controlled house voted for all the budget appropriations leading to the need to raise the debt ceiling"

So true. This gets lost in the right-wing bashing of the President. Obama nor individual agencies like DOE set the budget, they only can spend what Congress has authorized. And the debt ceiling is about paying past bills authorized by Congress, not about future expenditures.

Congress hasn't sent the President a budget in years. If Congress wants the executive branch to spend less, then they have to do their job and come up with a budget and get it to the President.

The republican party doesn't have to come up with a budget, they just need to say, STOP all spending and shut it down for 22 years then we'll figure out how to pay off the $126T we owe. The spending has to STOP , period. There are many places that can be cut without touching SS, Mediacre or peoples pensions. Hell, just this little shut down saved $70B so why not keep all that shut down as they did and pay off the damn bill.

Nope, just do the math. Discretionary spending is a drop in the bucket. SS and Medicare must be means tested. If you thought the money you paid in was "yours" then someone fed you a real load of crap, and you bought it. The money paid in goes to current recipients in the same year, and there is nothing left. There aren't enough future workers to pay in enough to support future retirees. Simple math.

I am not sure you really have a point. Economics can be rather and when you say we owe 126T I think you are very confused about what that actually means. People also say we have a trade unbalance like it is actually bad and they really do not understand what this means. This is one of the key problems I keep seeing with people saying "STOP THE SPEDNING". In the 80s people said the exact same thing, that debt was out of control, that we where all doomed. Well in the end we spent even more and nothing happened. You need to really understand economics before you can start saying these things and few people do. I know some but I am no expert but the common sense notion of the things people say like "We Have a 500T Derivative Bomb" simply do not know what they are saying.

I am also not saying we waste a lot money, however after dealing with the military and other entitlement programs, I can safely say that our labs and science investment in general are very good investments. Giving 100 billion to private companies to kill civilians in Iraq and treat our solderers badly is not a good investment, however it does make a small number of people very very rich. Well hell we brought in Bechtel now who would love nothing more than to get more and more money out of the labs for doing less and less.

With $17T deficit and $126T unfunded liabilities I suspect any morning I will wake up and hear this. Sorry people the banks are closed, if you had anything in there its gone and China is here to collect payment in full. Personally I would like to see the nations bills paid in full and owe no one the time of day. I'm very uncomfortable being in debt as much as this nation is knowing who we are borrowing money from and also knowing those same nations want off the US dollar and onto the euro in order to avoid a world wide depression. I guess what I hate about this most is having to go down with the ship when I made no contribution to its demise.

I hear your concerns but how realistic is it? When you say we have 17T is debt what does that really mean? Is it really like you owe Guido money and he will break you legs when you don't pay? Or is the 17T sort of a mutual exchange of money? The relation between China, US, Europe and India in terms of economics is far more complicated that you think. If US goes down so do they all due to the new global economy. Additionally the whole idea of paying off the bills totally would most certainly lead to economic disaster not to mention other problems. Due you understand the debt the United States owed during WWII, the cold war, compare that to now, but in a normalized way not in absolute dollars.

It appears that those who think austerity is the answer don't know much about the failure of past austerity (Japan) or the harm of present austerity (Greece and Spain).
And they don't appear to be considering the point that we can grow the economy enough to make the pain bearable. We certainly need to cut (military spending is as unsustainable and our healthcare was) but we can't cut our future (education and infrastructure) or we we'll be a country of stupid people with lots of broken stuff. If anything those things need even more focus.

The major holders are the Social Security Trust Fund and the US Treasury (through "Quantitative Easing" buying). Try to actually understand some facts before you spew your drivel again.

That's really good SS, not funded, treasury, prints fake money to devalue the dollar and money market, vulnerable by the stock market which I suspect just before it all goes down the toilet the rich who do inside trading will have pulled every dime they own out before the next morning as all the peons who have nothing will wake up broke. Bottom line, the US is living on a false economy only being held together by the treasury by pumping billion a month into a system that is worthless as boobs on a boar hog.

Unfortunately I am sorry to say if you voted for a Democrat I do not feel sorry for you.

You deserve to lose your pension (I am sorry to say) for not being informed how the Dems use the system to give handouts and squash capitalism and will do just about anything to a special interest group to gather their vote.

DO NOT COMPLAIN WHEN YOU LOSE YOUR PENSION LIKE DETROIT!!

... or we we'll be a country of stupid people ...

On average, we are already a country of stupid people despite all the money we spend on education. The United States has the highest education expenditures in the world yet ranks near the bottom in terms of achievement among developed countries. The more we spend, the worse we get.

Regarding Greece, austerity did not cause it's economic problems. Greece's problems were caused by endless/reckless government spending.

It appears to me and to most of those paying attention understand that the only spending the (D)'s have implemented is spending to bail out the harmful GOP policies that we were and are saddled with. (Wars, economic collapse and the resulting unemployment costs, unfunded medicare mandates' etc.)

You are as stupid as you believe . Have a good day and keep on with your pro-socialist ideologies and maybe in your lifetime you'll get to see America sink into the abyss, which is what your (D) party strives for at the cost of all the rich and working class. To you 50% to 90% tax on those who work to support you auss is a good thing. To me 10% is it bubba.

If you are in the SDP, then by definition you cannot be reasoned with so there is no point in trying to explain the obvious to you. The sky is blue whether you believe it or not. I still wet my pants at the thought of all you lab lemmings suffering but you deserve what you get since you are just sucking up the taxpayers money. I too used to work at the lab but that was different, I was valuable what we did was for defense. Maybe some said I was not so bright, crazy, or I was slow, but I got the job done and I can tell that dumbest people I ever meet had Phds. They thought they where sooo smart and knew better, but I had common sense. Look where they are now and where I am. I am happy rich, and left that all behind. I never think about how badly they treated me. I never gave the lab a thought again after I left with all me benefits and pensions. The lab and the people there are just parasites.

Anonymous said...

It looks/reads as though you're not capable of a serious discussion that includes facts and examples. Which appears to show the real reason why you're not working at any of the Labs any longer and why you embrace the things your TV, radio and tin foil hat tell you to believe.

I can see how some of the PhDs. may appear to be "dumb" to folks like yourself but that's got much more to do with your inability to understand them than the inverse.

Actually it is very clear to everyone that that is ALL you think about. Your bitterness and self-hatred are palpable. You failed professionally, and that will stay with you forever, benefits and pension or not. Lots of incompetent folks just hang in until they can retire. If you are really "rich" (which I doubt) you wouldn't have to spend time here trying to justify yourself. You'd have a million better things to occupy your time. The fact that you don't speaks volumes. Alone and lonely. Ask yourself: where would you be without internet access? Probably dead, right? Sad.

The handouts to the welfare parasites is how the SDP gets their votes and its how they're going to retain them. This is why selective population control is no longer an option it should be mandated and all funds to these parasites should be cut off.

Anonymous said...

You mean like the GOP's Medicare part D, their willingness to outsourse the labs to their doner's, the wars for profit, the huge tax cuts the GOP passed for the rich, the GOP's rejection of tax code adjustments because their doners paid good money for that bit of favoritism?
Those kinds of programs to get votes?

It appears to me that your only complaint with the Democrats is that they want to give the poor enough to allow them to eat and to maybe get a job.

Are you aware that of the ~250 most dependent (welfare, food stamps (SNAP), medicare, etc.) areas in the country that the GOP is in firm control of ~215 of them?
So the primary reason that the (D)'s care is actually because they understand that we, as a country, have a responsibility to feed our poor.
And not because there's some political gain available.

Anonymous said...

...we, as a country, have a responsibility to feed our poor.

October 20, 2013 at 11:33 AM

Wrong. The poor have a responsibility to get an education and a job so they can feed themselves, just like anyone else. We, as a country, have a responsibility to find out why that's not happening and fix it.

Anonymous said...

So the primary reason that the (D)'s care is actually because they understand that we, as a country, have a responsibility to feed our poor.

The SDP has allowed these parasite to such us dry for more than 60 years now and there's been absolutely no improvement. They are all still running around saying, "you owes me". The only way this can be cured is to stop all welfare and let the SOB figure out how they are going to make it. If they resort to crime, shot the SOB's and don't waste our tax dollars on jail space. That's almost a decade and all the SDP wants to do is give them more all paid for by those who actually work and "for vote" since they make up the mass majority of the pukes who put Odumbo in office for that very reason. You's feed me and I's keep you's in office to destroy some more. It's a fact, we DO NOT owe the poor people of this country the time of day and we surely don't owe the poor people of the world anything.

Anonymous said...

I suppose that it was just a matter of time before some of you blamed the poor for the negative results of the many GOP policies that have resulted in more even more poor people and the continued stagnation of middle-class incomes.
As you embrace the folks at the top and the favoritism that allows them to pocket all of the profit generated from the labor of others.

Anonymous said...

I've already shown you who benefits the most from government spending. And the answer is GOP strongholds.

So if you want to talk about buying votes you need to find a mirror to look into. (Don't forget that eye contact is always important)

No one is pretending that the debt isn't a problem. The question is do we embrace austerity or growth as the way out of that problem. The (D)'s see growth as the way out and the (R)'s see austerity as the only way out and the (R)'s are willing to destroy our economy to prove their point.

Anonymous said...

Obama has submitted a budget proposal every year. It's congress that is responsible for passing and submitting one to him for his signature...or his rejection.

Anonymous said...

The (D)'s see growth as the way out

October 21, 2013 at 6:47 PM

Only growth of government. Growth of the private sector is Obama's greatest fear.

S said...

Private growth has been the only real and substantial growth we've seen in Obama's terms.
He doesn't appear to mind that growth.

So your whole point appears to be nothing more than flawed wishful thinking on your part.

Now if you want to talk about the huge government growth prior to Obama then we could easily have that conversation.

Anonymous said...

Triple Bush's deficit doesn't come from private sector growth. Nor does it come from "Bush's war". It's now "Obama's war." Let's talk about the increase in food stamps from canceling Bill Clinton's requirement to work, and the intent not to check income for verifying Obamacare subsidies, until he was shamed into it. He is all about redistribution of "my" wealth. I'm not going to let that happen. He is content to let Israel carry out US foreign policy and they will. What a loser.

Anonymous said...

"I've already shown you who benefits the most from government spending. And the answer is GOP strongholds."

Perhaps you have this wrong. In these GOP strongholds larger portion of the parasites have control and the GOP portion must become stronger because the proximity to the parasites.

In placed like NY and Mass the GOP bring in all the money (Wall street, high tech) and there are less parasites.

It some sort of logic that, but whatever. I just know Jackson Mississippi is way better than Stockholm.

And yet some would like me to believe that I don't owe a big part of what and where I am to the taxes we and everyone before us paid?

I've requested facts to justify the opinions of others and those requests have been ignored because facts don't work into a disagreement based on hate and little else.

It it weren't for Jarvis-Gann property taz limits and term limits we could have New Jersey's property tax rates and Penn-DOTs mob-based nepotism. Heck we might even reach the level of Illinois historically prominent leadership. 36% pension funding, Rostenkowski, Hoffa, Daley, Capone, .

Or maybe when we finally grow up California will be ruled over by a Kennedy, a J. E. Hoover or when we achieve sainthood, his benifiecence, the Lord of the Scold, O'wonderful hisself.

Yep, California is different than other places. Go home.

".. have a responsibility to feed our poor." Less. Feed fat people Less.

I see a lot of unproductive fat people, playing on guilt to get a handout, to avoid productive employment. And that's just in my family.

Private charity is just that.
