Trump and Lab contract change

What is the impact of the incoming Administration on the contract change dates for the nuclear weapons labs?

Hopefully the new administration scraps the current bidding process for SNL and pushes all NNSA contract biddings back another year. This will give the new DOE administration time to rewrite the requisitions and negotiate new contracts.

If Perry meant anything he said, this is the least he would do. But really, nobody knows at this point.

No one knows, of course. Are you asking for uneducated opinions? Why?

Rick Perry comes in, shuts it all down, everyone is fired and all is good because we will be saving taxpayer dollars. Everything clear now?

Because that is what this blog is for. (Actually, many of the comments found here would have to improve significantly to be uneducated opinions. Probably including this one, although I do know what self-referential means, apparently. This is a joke in case you missed it.)

Because "educated opinions" are often compromised opinions. Education can make dumb people believe they know what they are talking about because they are "educated".

It depends more on the mind than the education. Most people, regardless of education or IQ, are inclined to believe whatever the generally held consensus says they should believe. Few people, scientists included, actually question the orthodox opinion. The media touts meaningless statistics like "99% of scientists believe in climate change". Well, what % of scientists are actually climate scientists? A PhD in biology doesn't know jack about climate, nor does a solid state physicist or a nuclear physicist. And as for the remaining scientists that are actually climate scientists, they wouldn't get funding if their research didn't support the administration's position. Any climate scientist at DOE, MIT, Princeton or wherever knows that if they publish a paper with different findings to Al Gore/Obama's party line, they will be targeted next funding round.

The whole climate science field has become a political mess an demonstrates perfectly why scientists should always avoid politics, unlike the climate science field which shot themselves in the foot.

As Perry and the Texas vultures sort out the valuable assets of DOE from the bloated or unnecessary in preparation for closing the Department and giving Forrestal to back to Interior, I need to surpress the surly part of me that says this is kharma. The miasma's revenge for screwing LLL and LASL long serving employees in the 2007-2008 Charle Foxtrot contract changes.

Educated in this case means someone educated by events...has some insight or knowledge to share by virtue of being closer to some aspect of the organization....but you knew that.

I think Mr. Trump is looking at all aspects of Government through a (new) different lens. They will do so at DOE.

Much similar to other issues like NATO not paying up nor many Allies (Japan, Saudi) not paying for their Defense.

To me (maybe not others) it makes total sense for us (and US) not to be ripped off.
I would also mention Air Force One and F-35 issues with cost over-runs that they are looking at.
To be fair Pres. Obama also canceled POTUS helicopter Program.

So there may be changes at DOE but will make sense (to me). Like Alaska Preserve drilling makes sense to me with new Technology (safer) where I didn't agree in the past.

Word around lab is that Sandia contract decision has already been made and that NNSA will pull a typical DC play and release the award late on a Friday.

So who is the first to protest the Honeywell decision for Sandia? Lockheed or Batelle?

The Nevada contract is already delayed four months from their first rescinded award, with no end in sight and talk about it dragging on until summer. I have to believe the entire schedule will slip months to a year.
