It looks like the stress of having to do those dirty deeds may in fact be getting to our leader. His presentation was delayed until tomorrow. If anyone gets the facts from this enlightening talk please be sure to post the FACTS here, soon after the presentation.
Now we wait for George Miller to step up to the plate with FACTS and see how things are viewed from the top down. Just maybe they'll give us _real numbers / body count_, which_classifications_are these unlucky ones coming from, and the exact_departure dates_for those selected individuals. At least tell us what month of what year this will be over. If we're going to do this again next year, FY-09, than at least tell us now so we can prepared ourselves accordingly. We need _cold hard honest facts_ with no ability to read between the lines, but it must be the truth.

Can anyone get these guys viewgraphs and post the fact for all to read. How about a video of their talks on You-Tube then give the blog master the link.
10% of NIF is being laid off – unless you’re LLNL FTE. This is 100 people (20 already laid off - 80 to go). Of these 60% are LLNL who may return back to their matrix org and the other 40% are IAP/Contractors.
Reason is due to a $25M issue that is from unexpected tax >, > cost associated with employees under LLNS, NNSA/DOE taking back some of the funding etc. Laying people off helps part of the $25 M issue (maybe $10 M?) but more needs to be done to get the numbers down. Ed talked about working smarter, and having our org being structured to be more efficient. Layoffs expected to be done within the next 2 months.
Once more fact. All FTE's that are sent back to their parent organization will remain EXempt from the ISP. So if there is a buyout, you don't get it.
Rumor:
Employees who were excluded from taking the Voluntary Self Select Option (VSSOP) will not be excluded from an involuntary separation – should one be implemented at LLNL.
Fact:
This is incorrect. The same exclusions from the VSSOP would apply to an Involuntary Separation Plan (ISP). Any career indefinite employee who was excluded from taking the VSSOP would also be excluded from an ISP.
Now we have two full months to worry about it. So again the question is, when will we hear about the ISP of 547 more people that LLNL muct to to make up that shortyfall.
Did any of you catch the statement about the 10% cut in budget for FY-08? That's another $2.2M dollar cut in conjuntion with the known $69M we already have.
Can anyone figure out what's going to happen next year, that being FY-09 which is only 7 months away.
So let me get this correct. All FTE or should I say many FTE that were matrixed to NIF are to be returned to their parent commands by next Friday 4/11/08. Upon arrival back home they will find there is no work and no money to do any. They then will be EBA'd an account that can only hold so many people to a short period of time. All those FTE's that were exempt from the VSSOP are also still exempt from any ISP that may come along. So here we have hundreds of people on the EBA list whereby if an ISP with severance pay should come along, "they can not take it", but wait that may not be the idea at all. ULM will hold off on having an ISP until after July 1st when section K of the PPPM is rewritten that defines the NEW rules of disemboweled to be used against the FTE who once had it so well. These hundred of people who will not have a job and were not entitled to the VSSOP will now find themselves booted out the gate due to the new rules, with no grounds to sue LLNS. Knowing that LLNL is $69M short for next year and 10% short on the new FY-09 budget do you think these people on the EBA list will use their free time wisely or will they just hang around and hope for better, that will never come. Lawyers on the planning committee is a wonderful thing. I love it, don't you? I wish that's all I had to do all day long was to sit around and figure out how to screw people in protection of the corporation and get paid big bucks to do it. What a fool I was for working for a living.
I hear now that Flex Term and FTE's are in the same pot at NIF, so would this mean when NIF gets rid of 60 FTE we're really talking about possibly 60 Term employees, or will the 60% be entirely all FTE's where they'll leave the Term employees alone; thinning out the NO LOAD FTE's.
Sounds like they are just experimenting here. They lay out some rumors..someone dies from a heart attack, they realize maybe they went too far. so they back off a bit..throw another rumor out. its all a game.
NIF uses Lunar project management, learned at the werewolf school of management. Dump hoards at the equinoxes and raid for slaves at the solstices. It's in the book of Moses in the Torah. Every fifty years is a Jubilee year and you declare projects complete.
or something like that. it changes.
Looks like NIF is starting to downsize as it nears completion.
I sure hope NIF is successful and works as planned. There are many dedicated LLNL employees who have worked very hard for several years to secure the funding, plan and construct the buildings and everything inside, etc. If it is a failure, if it does not do what management says it will do, then it will prove what a few people have been saying - that it is a big time moneypit.
